IKE Smart City interactive kiosks have been installed at Philadelphia's Indego bike-share stations, providing navigation tools and neighborhood information for cyclists and pedestrians, according to a NBC10 Philadelphia report.
The accessible units feature touchscreens on both sides and applications available in multiple languages.
Users can check transit arrivals, weather updates, local events and nearby restaurants. The kiosks also provide free public Wi-Fi and display public art, community announcements and safety alerts, extending their services to people who are not renting bicycles.
Advertising revenue from the kiosks will be reinvested in Indego to support improvements and expansion, according to program manager Waffiyyah Murray. Launched in 2015, the bike-share program now includes about 2,000 conventional and pedal-assisted electric bicycles at 250 stations, with rentals available around the clock.
