Mashgin's Power Counter and Mini Power Counter self-checkout systems have sold out twice since their introduction earlier this year, Chief Revenue Officer Brandon Scott told Sports Business Journal. The smaller systems use cameras and computer vision to identify merchandise placed on a checkout surface. The company said its technology is now used in 65% of professional sports stadiums.

Northwestern University's Ryan Field installed 62 Power Counters, marking Mashgin's largest initial deployment at a sports venue, while the Buffalo Bills' Highmark Stadium has 52 Mashgin units. The company also installed 16 Mini units at the University of Southern California's Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum and is expanding at BMO Stadium and other professional sports venues.

The Power Counter weighs 24 pounds, compared with 66 pounds for earlier models, and requires about 700 fewer square inches of operating space. Scott said installation takes less than 10 minutes, compared with about 30 minutes for previous equipment.
