Posiflex Technology has introduced its SCO Series self-checkout kiosks, a modular platform designed for grocery stores, apparel retailers and unattended shops, according to a press release.

The company said the series supports radio frequency identification for tagged merchandise and weighing applications for fresh produce and bulk goods. A dedicated weighing-scale model is scheduled for release soon.

The platform uses artificial intelligence to recognize objects and help identify scanning errors and unusual checkout behavior, according to Posiflex. Optional loss-prevention features provide alerts, while an LED indicator displays system status. The RFID configuration can read multiple tagged products without requiring customers to align individual barcodes.

Available in countertop and floor-standing configurations, the kiosks feature a 15.6-inch touchscreen and an optional 10-inch customer display. Retailers can customize payment peripherals and display placement to suit their layouts. Posiflex also provides software development tools for integration with existing point-of-sale systems and supports the Datalogic Magellan 9600i scanning module.
