Hanoi has begun testing Vietnam's first Smart Police Station, a 24-hour self-service kiosk at 89 Dinh Tien Hoang St., according to a report in The Star. The multilingual booth is designed to help residents and tourists report crimes, make emergency calls, receive crime alerts, locate nearby police and government offices, and obtain answers to legal questions.

Artificial intelligence and voice-recognition technology guide users through the reporting process, record their statements and identify potentially missing information. Completed reports are entered into the Ministry of Public Security's system and routed to the appropriate local police unit, allowing authorities to contact users and track cases digitally.

The kiosk was developed by the Police Department for Administrative Management of Social Order as part of a broader public-service kiosk initiative. The system connects with Vietnam's population database, electronic authentication tools and VNeID digital identification platform while emphasizing data security and privacy. Officials plan to evaluate the Hanoi pilot, add services and consider expanding the model to other locations.
