Central Connecticut State University has installed a new hands-only CPR training kiosk inside the Student Center lobby to help students and visitors learn lifesaving emergency response skills, according to a Fox61 report.

The interactive kiosk, developed through a partnership with the American Heart Association and Hartford HealthCare, includes a touchscreen video tutorial, a built-in mannequin for chest-compression practice and real-time feedback on hand placement and rhythm. Officials said the training can be completed in about five minutes.

The kiosk unveiling also included a reunion between university alumnus Geo Rodriguez and the campus police officers who helped save his life after he suffered cardiac arrest while playing basketball at the university in 2024. Rodriguez, now an ambassador for the American Heart Association, said he hopes the kiosk helps prepare others to respond during medical emergencies. Officials noted that more than 350,000 cardiac arrests occur outside hospitals each year, many of them in public settings, making CPR education and accessibility increasingly important.
