The American Heart Association has installed a Hands-Only CPR training kiosk at Molloy University, according to a press release, marking the first kiosk of its kind in the New York metropolitan area. Sponsored by Webster Bank, the interactive unit was unveiled during CPR and AED Awareness Week and will serve as a public training resource on the university's campus. The kiosk is part of the American Heart Association's Nation of Lifesavers initiative, which aims to increase the number of people prepared to respond during a cardiac emergency.

The self-service kiosk teaches Hands-Only CPR through a touchscreen program that guides users through an introduction, practice session and skills test in less than five minutes. Using a practice mannequin, the system provides real-time feedback on chest compression depth, rate and hand placement, allowing users to build confidence through hands-on instruction. Previously located at Farmingdale State College, the mobile kiosk will continue rotating among locations across Long Island over the next three years.

The ribbon-cutting ceremony also recognized two Long Islanders who received Lifesaver Awards for using CPR to save lives in separate emergencies. Association officials said the kiosk's arrival at Molloy University will expand access to CPR training and help prepare more community members to act during cardiac arrest situations. According to the organization, more than 350,000 out-of-hospital cardiac arrests occur annually in the United States, making bystander CPR training an important public health priority.
