Zebra Technologies has introduced the KC401, an Android-based kiosk designed to automate routine inquiries, shorten lines and allow employees to focus on more complex customer and patient needs, according to a press release. The device features a 10-inch display and is intended for self-service applications in retail, hospitality, manufacturing and health care.
The kiosk can provide product information, conduct price and inventory checks, identify loyalty program members and support product returns. Zebra cited Coresight Research indicating that more than 60% of retailers say customers have difficulty finding products and navigating stores. The research also found that self-service technology can free up labor equivalent to about four employees per store, or approximately 22% of front-of-store capacity.
Designed for high-traffic settings, the KC401 has an impact-tested, scratch-resistant display and an IP65 rating for protection against dust and liquids. An optional scanner supports hands-free barcode workflows, while Zebra's software tools provide device configuration, security and management. The kiosk uses the same mounting infrastructure as Zebra's CC6000, allowing existing customers to upgrade with less disruption.
Zebra’s scan engines for self-service kiosk solutions give customers seamless quick service technology while providing a long lifecycle they can count on.
