Montefiore Medical Group in New York has introduced self-service digital kiosks in select waiting rooms to speed up patient check-in and improve overall efficiency, according to a report in the practice's newsletter. The kiosks feature touchscreen interfaces that allow patients to check in quickly, helping reduce wait times and streamline the start of appointments.
The organization said the kiosks are part of a broader effort to enhance both patient experience and operational performance. By automating routine administrative tasks, the system reduces staff workload while improving service delivery. Several kiosks are available at each location, with multilingual instructions designed to improve accessibility.
Patients can use the kiosks to complete health questionnaires, update insurance information and make visit payments. The system also integrates with pre-visit tools, enabling patients who check in online through MyChart to generate a barcode that can be scanned upon arrival, instantly notifying staff that they are ready to be seen.
The kiosks are currently available at three locations in the Bronx and Westchester County, with plans to expand to 20 practice sites. The rollout is expected to give more than 220,000 patients access to the digital check-in system as the organization continues to modernize its front-end operations.
