Israeli hotel group Astral Hotels is introducing an artificial intelligence-powered self-service kiosk featuring a life-sized holographic avatar that can check guests into a hotel and dispense room key cards without assistance from front desk employees, according to a Jerusalem Post report. The first system will be installed at the Queen of Sheba Hotel in Eilat, Israel, with Astral planning to evaluate whether to expand the technology to other properties.
Developed by EyeFeelIt, the kiosk combines an interactive hologram with an AI-powered digital concierge. Guests begin check-in by scanning a QR code displayed by the avatar and complete the required steps using their smartphones. Once the process is finished, the kiosk dispenses a physical room key card. The system is designed to provide check-in service around the clock while potentially reducing waits at the reception desk.
Beyond check-in, the holographic avatar can provide information about hotel amenities, recommend restaurants and suggest nearby attractions. Lior Berneman-Zvulun, vice president of marketing and digital at Astral Hotels, said the deployment is part of a broader effort to incorporate new technologies into the guest experience. EyeFeelIt CEO Sharon Birnbaum said the company designed the avatar to serve as an around-the-clock point of interaction between guests and the hotel.
