India's Railway Protection Force plans to install passenger-assistance kiosks at eight additional stations in the Tiruchi Railway Division following favorable traveler feedback and what officials described as timely responses to complaints, according to a report in The Hindu.
The kiosks will be added at Tirupadrippuliyur, Needamangalam, Mannargudi, Vellore Cantonment, Tiruvannamalai, Thanjavur, Nagore and Karaikal stations.
Developed internally by the RPF, the Assistance Management System kiosks connect passengers with security personnel at stations that do not have a permanent RPF presence. Travelers can use the kiosks to report security issues, request medical or emergency assistance, report lost property and communicate with the RPF control room. Complaints are immediately forwarded to the appropriate RPF post for action.
The program debuted at Srirangam station in November 2025 and expanded to Chidambaram and Puducherry in February. As of July 25, the kiosks had helped resolve 137 complaints at the stations. Cases have involved lost belongings, medical needs, harassment, theft and other security concerns, with women and senior citizens among those responding positively to the service.
