The Illinois State Police has opened a customer assistance kiosk at its Troop 10 headquarters in Ullin to help residents apply for and manage firearm owner's Identification cards and concealed carry licenses, according to a press release. The location provides in-person assistance for residents who have difficulty navigating the state's online application system or lack internet access.
The kiosk offers assistance with applications, renewals, name and address changes, rejected applications and firearm disposition records. Visitors can also have photographs taken and uploaded, surrender identification cards when required and use a public computer to complete online applications or update existing accounts. The Ullin location, at 1154 Shawnee College Road, operates Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to noon and 1 to 5 p.m.
The Illinois State Police also operates assistance kiosks in Springfield, Du Quoin and Effingham. Its Collinsville location is temporarily closed until spring 2027, while the Lockport kiosk is expected to reopen this winter. Residents can continue to submit applications and manage their credentials through the state's online Firearms Services system. The agency noted that kiosk representatives cannot provide assistance with appeals involving revoked cards or denied applications, which are handled separately by its Firearms Record Challenge Unit.
