The Illinois State Police has opened a Firearm Owners Identification kiosk at its Troop 9 headquarters, 401 Industrial Drive in Effingham, according to a WJBD Radio report. The site provides in-person assistance for residents who have difficulty using the online system or lack internet access. It operates from 8 a.m. to 12 noon and 1 to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
Kiosk representatives can help with new applications, renewals, name and address changes, rejected applications, photographs, Firearm Disposition Records and required card surrenders. A public computer is available for applications and account updates. State police also operate kiosks in Springfield and Du Quoin, while locations in Collinsville and Lockport are expected to reopen this fall. Cardholders may continue using the Illinois State Police Firearms Services website for online services.
