Grasshopper Kiosks announces software suite for cannabis dispensaries

Grasshopper Kiosks, a provider of smart vending machines for cannabis dispensaries, has announced a comprehensive new kiosk software suite. The software package includes upgrades to both front and back ends, improving performance for dispensary owners and user experience for customers, according to a press release. 

The new platform integrates with a dispensary's point-of-sale software (such as Treez or MJ Freeway), instantly updates inventory and customer preferences, and complies with current state regulations, including customer verification, maximum limits and required data reporting. A merchant management dashboard and a host of new user tools increase functionality and efficiency.

The new software was created by Grasshopper's tech team, and gives the company the flexibility to work closely with dispensaries to completely customize the sales experience. And, like Tesla's "over-the-air" approach, it allows updates to all machines from a single hub. The customizable features make the platform suitable for many industries besides cannabis, the release said.

The centerpiece of the user experience is a 32-inch LCD touchscreen that customers use to navigate through full-color product photos accompanied by detailed descriptions. To make a purchase, the customer selects items on the screen, pays with cash or credit, and receives the items. The transactions average less than one minute.
