The North Carolina Division of Motor Vehicles has reopened its office at Fort Bragg after a five-year closure that began during the COVID-19 pandemic, according to a WTVD report, restoring on-base access to driver and vehicle services for soldiers and their families. Officials marked the reopening with a ribbon-cutting ceremony and highlighted the convenience of having DMV services available at the nation's largest Army installation, reducing the need for service members to travel to off-post locations and endure lengthy wait times.
A key feature of the reopened facility is a new self-service kiosk designed to streamline routine transactions and shorten customer wait times. The kiosk is part of a broader effort to modernize DMV services and improve the customer experience by providing faster, more efficient access to common services. Visitors can also check wait times online before arriving at the office.
Military and state leaders said the office's return will save time for service members while supporting quality-of-life improvements on the installation. Gov. Josh Stein noted that Fort Bragg's large population makes access to government services especially important and said the state is investing in additional DMV staffing.
