Solar-powered kiosks expand food access in North Carolina

Five organizations in Franklin, North Carolina, have launched Fresh Access Franklin, a network of three free, solar-powered community refrigerator kiosks for residents experiencing food insecurity, according to a WLOS News report. Residents have also contributed garden produce and prepared food, helping expand the program's reach since its July launch. The kiosks are located at Vecinos Health Hub, First United Methodist Church and Smoky Mountain Harm Reduction. Fresh Access Franklin hopes to add more locations in the future.
