Olea Kiosks introduces drive-thru kiosk for QSR, fast casual restaurants

March 29, 2017

Olea Kiosks has introduced a drive-thru kiosk for the QSR and fast casual industries. The new device has been dubbed the Detroit in honor of the city that made America the world leader in automobile engineering and manufacturing, according to a press release.

The unit is available for shipment now and retails for 30 percent less than the unit it replaces, while outperforming it in key metrics.

"The drive-thru remains a key revenue generator for restaurants not only in the United States, but also across the world," Frank Olea, president and CEO, said in the release."As such, we believe it's an area where constant innovation is important in order for our QSR and fast casual customers to stay ahead of their competition."

Fast food operations often see as much as 70 percent of their revenue from the drive-thru, making it important for brands to move their lines as quickly and smoothly as possible.

Because customers make selections directly into the system and need not rely on someone else to transcribe them, accuracy improves.

And, because kiosks can be programmed to ask for the upsell, some deployers have seen increases in drive-thru revenue of up to 15 percent.

Upgrades include:

  • 32-inch sunlight-viewable LCD screen;
  • multitouch touchscreen that provides an ergonomic interaction — whether from a sports car or large SUV;
  • cooling design for lower power draw;
  • multiple installation options, including freestanding, wall mount and column- or post-mount;
  • custom graphics, overhead signage and other branding options;
  • EMV compliant payment options;
  • outdoor-rated compression security locks;
  • automotive-style door gaskets;
  • high-temperature industrial computer system;
  • Presence detection; and
  • marine-grade stereo speakers.
