Avinor, the state-owned company that operates most of Norway's airports, has launched a major food-and-beverage tender covering eight airports as part of a broader effort to improve passenger experience and increase commercial revenue, according to a press release. The tender, with an estimated total value of $335-$340 million, includes 35 contracts across airports in Bergen, Trondheim, Kristiansand, Ålesund, Harstad/Narvik, Molde, Kristiansund and Alta, serving a combined passenger base projected to grow from 53 million travelers in 2025 to 56 million by the start of the contracts. The various contracts have durations of five or seven years, covering F&B spaces, kiosk/convenience stores and self-service solutions.

Avinor said the initiative is designed to modernize airport dining by introducing broader food offerings, clearer brand concepts and greater differentiation between locations. The company plans to balance local operators with recognized Norwegian and international brands as travelers increasingly seek speed, convenience and familiar dining options while moving through airports. Officials said the updated strategy will include both quick-service concepts and more complete dining experiences tailored to changing passenger expectations.

Commercial revenue generated from concessions helps support Avinor's nationwide airport network, making the tender process an important long-term business strategy. Avinor said it is seeking operators capable of combining operational reliability with innovation and adaptability in high-volume airport environments.
