Kiosk features a Delaware town's history

July 24, 2014

A new interactive kiosk debuted at the Milford, Del.-based Milford Museum, according to a Delmarva.com article.

The museum's recent 12-week renovation included a grant from the Lion's Club and from Delaware Humanities to purchase the kiosk. Milford Museum Executive Director Claudia Leister believes the kiosk will appeal to the interests of the upcoming tech-savvy generation.

"It is hard enough to get people interested in history in general — I can speak to that, myself, since I have been on both sides of the spectrum," Leister said in the article.

The town's history and photos were digitized and condensed into 12 interactive presentations on the kiosk, with narrations on subjects such as Milford agriculture and ship building.

"Everything is on screens today, so I wanted to make Milford's history appear as interesting as possible to reel people in to take a minute to learn how fascinating the town really is," Leister said. "The best part is seeing people who weren't planning on staying for long end up staying for quite a while — this museum is making both locals and beach-goers care about little Milford, and that makes it all worthwhile."
