A kiosk manufacturer, imageholders, recently delivered two expo floor standing tablet kiosks with a straight graphic panel and a frosted shelf to Queen's University Belfast, according to a press release.
The tablet kiosk securely encloses the Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 9.7 inches within the Expo 10 enclosure. The enclosures were deployed within the biomedical and the medical libraries.
The Samsung tablet kiosks function as an information point within each library. The tablet displays opening hours, FAQs and rules for borrowing books. Each kiosk also has the ability to search the QCat library which stores all of the library's books, e-books, journals and databases.
The integrated "glass look" acrylic shelf has room for a keyboard, or makes a handy place to rest a notebook or a cup of coffee.
The tablet kiosks are available 24/7, ensuring that out of working hours, students are still able to access resources and information.
The libraries each have designated PCs that search the library catalog. The tablet kiosks were deployed to supersede these terminals with a space effective, low maintenance solution.
"The kiosks that have been deployed so far are a resounding success," Library Systems, Queen’s University Belfast announced in a prepared statement. "Since the deployment of the kiosks we have been able to offer students a convenient information point, as well as a handy way to use our library catalog. Visually, the kiosk is wonderful, and our Queen’s University Belfast logo printed on the front is a nice finishing touch."
"The shelf provides a place for students to put their phones and documents whilst they interact with the kiosks, ensuring students are able to locate books and look up information in a comfortable manner," said Christian Bosence, imageholders account manager.
