The Wilcox County Board of Commissioners in Georgia has approved an agreement with the Georgia Legal Services Program to install a self-service legal aid kiosk at the county courthouse, according to a Cordele Dispatch report.
The measure, approved during the board's Oct. 6 meeting, is intended to improve access to legal resources for residents who may have difficulty obtaining assistance. The kiosk will provide access to legal information, standard forms, a computer and a printer.
The installation is designed to give residents another way to obtain legal information and complete paperwork without requiring their own computer or printer. The kiosk could be particularly useful in a rural community where access to legal services and technology may be limited. The agreement establishes the county's participation in the project, although an installation date and details about the kiosk's operating hours were not confirmed.
Commissioners also approved a professional services agreement with Right Side Health, a telehealth provider that connects emergency medical patients with board-certified emergency physicians. Officials told the news outlet the service will be provided at no cost to the county and will allow patients to consult a physician when ambulance crews are delayed or when patients decline transportation to a hospital.
