ChargePoint is expanding its partnership with Optimus Energy Solutions to add more than 200 public electric vehicle charging ports across the southeastern U.S., according to a press release.
Under the agreement, ChargePoint will provide charging hardware, software and related services, while Optimus will own and operate the charging locations as it expands its regional network.
The charging stations will be installed primarily in high-demand markets, with many sites located at quick-service restaurants and retail centers. The companies said these destinations offer convenient amenities for drivers while helping maximize charger utilization.
ChargePoint CEO Rick Wilmer said the expanded partnership will help improve access to reliable EV charging infrastructure and support the continued adoption of electric vehicles. Optimus President Ben Pauluhn said the company's collaboration with ChargePoint has helped establish its charging network and will enable it to meet growing demand for fast, dependable charging throughout the Southeast.
ChargePoint's network connects EV drivers to more than 1.3 million public and private charging ports worldwide, including approximately 375,000 ChargePoint-operated network ports and more than 900,000 roaming ports through partner networks.
