The U.K.-based confectionery retailer Thorntons is testing a new in-store kiosk that allows shoppers to buy from its extended online product range using One iota SmartPod technology.
The solution will focus on converting sales for items that are difficult to stock in-store, such as Thorntons' hampers range (chocolate-filled gift baskets), which are the company's best-selling online product.
"Thorntons is one of Britain's best loved and well known brands, so it's fantastic to work with them to bring multichannel to life and raise awareness of their online offering," said Damian Hanson, One iota CEO. "This year will see a trend of major high street retailers adopting in-store connected technology to bring new online and digital shopping experiences into high street stores."
