Texas town turns to kiosks for tourist engagement

January 2, 2014

The seaside resort town of Kemah, Texas, has deployed an interactive kiosk helmed by Livewire Digital as a way to invite tourists to discover the boardwalk and nearby attractions. Housing for the kiosk was provided by EuroTouch Kiosks, according to a company news release.

The kiosk opens up lines of communication between visitors and local businesses and attractions by giving users instant access to information about activities, from boat and amusement rides to shopping, waterfront dining and seasonal festivals, the release said.

"Reports are that visitors to Kemah have been searching out the kiosk to find out what's happening locally," said Livewire Digital's V.P. of sales and business development, Linda Gilbert. "Our eConcierge CMS allows for information presented on the kiosks to be organized in categories so users are able to easily find what is available in the area. With the integration of Google Maps, they are able to get directions as well as discover new activities and resources."
