Tennessee Sports Hall of Fame bets on iPad kiosks

August 29, 2013

Guests of the Tennessee Sports Hall of Fame can now learn more about the Volunteer State's sports history through interactive iPad kiosks.

With more than 500 individuals honored and more than 500 sports artifacts displayed within the 7,200-square-foot museum, the TSHF initially contacted Visionary Moments looking for a way to organize and display multimedia content relevant to the Hall of Fame, its athletes and its exhibits, the announcement said.

The resulting kiosk stations consist of custom designed iPad housing by Visionary Moments, with an attached LCD screen located directly above the iPad. The interactive content includes slideshows, videos, digital magazines, music and stories about the hall, its enshrined members, and the history of sports in Tennessee.

To secure the iPad, Visionary Moments chose to use the Evolve Enclosure from ArmorActive, engineered to protect the iPad from theft and tampering, according to the news release.

The TSHF also requested the ability to update and control the content for multiple display stations from one central location, leading to the implementation of Visionary Moments' own iPad app Media Author, which gives visitors the ability to navigate and browse available multimedia options, as well as for the TSHF to manage and refresh the content remotely via the cloud.

"Our kiosk stations, in combination with the ability to remotely create multimedia presentations via Media Author, present a turnkey interactive option for any museum exhibit or traveling exhibit," said Josh Altieri, Visionary Moments project manager and TSHF project lead.
