Hardware manufacturer Shuttle recently announced the launch of its new mini PC, the XPC cube Barebone SH170R6. It is designed as the company's first platform for the sixth generation of Intel Core processors, according to a press release.
The SH1706 is designed with four slots for DDR4 memory modules and also supports up to 64 GB of RAM. It is also designed to work with a wide variety of Intel processors, including Intel Celeron, Pentium, Core i5 and others.
"Since the first XPC in 2001, new Shuttle Mini-PCs have constantly been developed to coincide with the launch of each new Intel micro-architecture generation," said Tom Seiffert, head of marketing and PR at Shuttle Computer Handels GmbH. "And we make no exception with Skylake. Purchasers of these machines with Intel H170 chipset benefit from noticeably more power, due in part to the introduction of DDR4 memory."
The PC comes with eight blue external USB 3.0 ports, which are accompanied by eight-channel audio and two other USB ports which can be used to charge mobile devices, eSATA and Intel Gigabit Ethernet. The PC also has two DisplayPorts and one HDMI. The unit is powered by a 300 W power supply, but it can be replaced with a 500 W power supply for a high-end graphics card.
The suggested retail price for the PC is 258 euros. Customers can also purchase optional add-ons such as a WLAN module, an RS 232 connector and a 500 W power supply unit.
