Oli Robotics targets 20,000 locations with robotic coffee shops

Oli Robotics has unveiled an artificial intelligence-powered robotic coffee shop designed to serve specialty beverages in hotels, supermarkets, airports and other high-traffic locations, according to a press release. The San Francisco company plans to establish a nationwide network of 20,000 grab-and-go coffee locations.

The automated system grinds beans, brews espresso, textures milk and prepares drinks such as lattes, cappuccinos, flat whites and iced coffees. It follows predetermined recipes while controlling ingredient amounts, milk temperature and preparation sequences. Cameras monitor the presence and position of cups as well as beverage fill levels to help maintain consistency.

Each robotic coffee shop occupies about 17 square feet, allowing businesses to add coffee service without building a traditional cafe. Operators can remotely monitor equipment and inventory, while Oli Robotics can distribute software and recipe updates across multiple locations. Founder Ismail Karankin said the company is using artificial intelligence and robotics to combine beverage quality with convenience.
