SchoolSafeID, an Oklahoma City-based software company, has activated its software on the check-in kiosks at all 14 Owasso, Oklahoma, school sites on Tuesday after the school board voted to replace the district's LobbyGuard system, according to an Owasso Reporter report.
The system tracks students' whereabouts and conducts instant background checks, but unlike the previous system, it works off of the cloud and gives visitors the opportunity to receive instant notifications and create digital IDs on smartphones for faster check-in. SchoolSafeID can also text a teacher when a parent checks in, and can create printable ID cards for students at secondary sites.
The system is more economical to install, costing about $50 less than LobbyGuard and saving an extra $3,000 more per year, according to the report.
