The Pilot, a newspaper serving Moore County, North Carolina, ran a feature article on Meridian Kiosk, which released a prototype of its mBOX automated locker system, a kiosk designed to simplify product pickup and improve the customer experience. Meridian, based in Aberdeen, North Carolina, displayed the system at the NRF Big Show in New York City, where the company shared exhibitor space with one of its clients, HP Inc.
Pickup lockers are expanding alongside mobile ordering, which is on the rise. Potential clients include fast food establishments, pharmacies, supermarkets, unattended equipment rentals, real estate key pickup and drop-off, auto repair and vehicle rental agencies.
Chris Gilder, CEO of Meridian, said data and camera analytics can be incorporated in its kiosks. Built-in security cameras can also be incorporated to count the number of people walking by a kiosk, the number that stopped to look at information displayed, what information was on the screen at that time, how long they stayed and if they interacted with the screen.
The analytic software can determine the age, gender and mood of a kiosk visitor, then determine the content to display to match the customer.
