NEXTEP touchscreen drive-thrus hit location milestone

October 15, 2013

NEXTEP SYSTEMS announced that its touchscreen drive thru-kiosk, dubbed by the company as "The World's Fastest Drive Thru," has been deployed to 100 quick-service restaurant locations.

The kiosks were designed specifically for QSRs to speed production and reduce communication errors between customers and team members, the announcement said. The touchscreen is also meant to be ideal for customers who are deaf or hard of hearing and who otherwise would not be able to communicate verbally to place a drive-thru order, the company said.

"Solutions have been developed in the past to try to accommodate people who are deaf or hard of hearing at the drive-thru," NEXTEP SYSTEMS President Tommy Woycik said in the announcement.

"Where others have failed lies in the delivery of an identical experience between customers who are deaf or hard of hearing and customers who are not. 'The World's Fastest Drive Thru' gives the same experience to all customers at the drive-thru, and it eliminates much of the potential for discrimination against guests — and discrimination lawsuits against restaurant owners — to occur."

Woycik added that the all-weather touchscreen interface is becoming the preferred means of interaction for customers, a preference driven by the widespread usage of smartphones, and mobile and online applications.

"We bring that same experience to the drive-thru, and people love it," he said.
