Newark, New Jersey, inaugurates public Wi-Fi, information kiosks

October 29, 2018

Last week, Newark, New Jersey, officials gathered in Military Park to celebrate the activation of the city's first LinkNWK kiosks.

The kiosks are operated by Intersection and provide free Wi-Fi, as well as mobile device charging, and free calling to any U.S. location. They also provide municipal services, maps and directions, according to a report by The Patch.

The kiosks — a collaborative effort by Intersection, the City of Newark, the Newark Community Economic Development Corp. and New Jersey Institute of Technology — will be installed in in high-traffic locations and "neighborhood corridors" around the city.

Newark will have a total of 45 of the kiosks when the project is complete.
