New York State Scenic Byways to install ‘Turning Point Trail’ kiosks highlighting Revolutionary War
Lakes to Locks Passage, which promotes local communities as tourism destinations, will install "Turning Point Trail" kiosks which will tell the tale of the British pursuit of American rebels south from Plattsburgh toward Saratoga, leading up to the eventual turning point of the war — the Battle of Saratoga, according to The Post Star.
The kiosks, which will be erected in Peru, Ticonderoga, Putnam, Whitehall, Kingsbury, Fort Miller and Schuylerville, will also list points of interest in each town. They can be used in conjunction with the group's "Passageport" mobile app to amplify the tourism experience.
Construction will be done by Lakes to Locks at no expense to the individual municipalities, although they will be responsible for installation and upkeep.
Gretel Schueller, community outreach director at the New York State Scenic Byways Program, said there will be an audio journey that guides tourists along the trail. The kiosks will have two static panels and one that changes.
