Massachusetts-based 3M Touch Systems Inc. announced today the release of the 3M Dual-Touch Chassis Display, according to a company press release.
The interactive displays — available in 15, 17 and 19 inches — reflect the company's goal to satisfy the gesture-based interface expectations of smartphone and tablet users by supporting gestures such as flick, pan, zoom and rotate, according to the announcement.
Targeted for integration by kiosk and enclosure manufacturers, the displays are designed for heavy public usage with features such as metal housing, chemically-strengthened glass, and an anti-glare and flat-front surface design.
"The traditional single-touch kiosk interface is evolving to a gesture-based interface as users expect these public access devices to respond like their personal devices," says Diego Romeu, business operations manager, 3M Touch Systems, in the announcement. "To help kiosk integrators satisfy these evolving user preferences, 3M offers this new line of robust, kiosk-ready dual-touch displays as an ideal solution for gesture-based user interfaces."
