Major U.K. supermarket chain Morrisons has entered a long-term partnership with Cork, Ireland-based Everseen to introduce computer-vision technology at its self-checkout stations, according to a Mass Market Retailers report. The initial deployment will bring Everseen's Evercheck platform to 200 stores across the U.K. following a successful trial.

Evercheck monitors transactions in real time and displays on-screen prompts when it identifies a potentially missed scan. Customers can correct routine errors themselves, helping reduce interruptions and keep checkout lines moving. The software will integrate with Morrisons' existing systems rather than require an entirely new checkout platform.

Morrisons said the technology is intended to balance faster self-service transactions with continued customer support. By reducing the time employees spend resolving common scanning issues, the retailer expects store teams to have more opportunities to assist shoppers with other needs. Everseen said the deployment demonstrates how vision-based artificial intelligence can improve operational performance without diminishing the customer experience.
