Military using Dream Machine kiosks

January 2, 2012

Military bases around the United States now have access to 200 PepsiCo Dream Machine recycling kiosks.

The kiosks recycle empty drink cans and plastic bottles into points users can redeem for select products.

PepsiCo partnered with Greenopolis in 2010 to create the recycling program that uses a barcode reader to identify the recyclable item. Then, on-screen prompts direct the user to drop it into one of two bins. The system tracks users, and offers points toward prizes, coupons and other incentives in return for regular recycling.
