MICROS: Touchscreen kiosks to take flight at JFK International

ANNAPOLIS, Md. — Fliers departing John F. Kennedy International Airport in October will experience a re-opened terminal featuring 250 touchscreen kiosks and 26 arrival and departure gates.
The kiosks from Nextep allow gate-bound travelers to choose food and drink items from multiple vendors and combine them into one order. The buyer swipes a payment card — with an option to add gratuity — and delivery to the gate is scheduled, along with estimated arrival time. The program is part of Terminal 5's "T5 Experience," which aims to make dining at the airport something travelers will look forward to.
"The initiative also includes a focus on improved food quality, with local ingredients and a 'farmer's market'-type ambiance," said Nextep's Tommy Wojick.
