MediNav app leads the way in Connecticut hospital

March 20, 2013

Connexient, a provider of e-health solutions, today announced the successful beta launch of its MediNav application at Saint Mary's Hospital in Waterbury, Conn.

MediNav is a smartphone and tablet application designed for wayfinding and patient engagement features, the announcement said, including indoor maps, location-based content and step-by-step directions. It also incorporates staff directories with click-to-call appointment requests, health information, patient surveys, hospital news and announcements. MediNav is initially offered on iPhone, iPad and Android devices, as well as in-hospital kiosk solutions for arriving visitors and patients.

Michael Novak, VP of operations and ancillary services for Saint Mary's, said the hospital's goal was to enhance every aspect of both the patients' and visitors' experiences.

"Hospitals are typically very complex structures to navigate, so offering a tool to simplify the process will be a great resource," Novak said. "Connexient provides an intuitive mobile interface for indoor maps, directions and relevant hospital content. We are excited to be the first hospital in Connecticut to launch such a patient-centered mobile wayfinding solution."
