Kiosk manufacturer predicts vending market future

The future of the vending kiosk market lies with emerging technology and meeting the customer's needs for convenience and entertainment, according to kiosk manufacturer AVT.

October 13, 2015

Vending kiosk manufacturer AVT Inc. recently shared its predictions and visions for the future of the vending industry. The company argues that the future will be driven by new disruptive technologies and enhanced expectations for good customer experiences, according to a press release.

"Technology will disrupt the vending industry in ways as profound as how Uber changed the taxi industry and Expedia changed the travel industry," said James Winsor, CEO of AVT, in the release. "From smartphone payments, to online access, to remembering each customer by name and offering specially selected items, technological advances will drive this industry forward."

Wayne Salvino, president of AVT, believes that both convenience and entertainment value will be key drivers. "We are entering an era where the customer is not only king, but is also in a position to demand new features that make the purchasing experience more user-friendly," he said. "If customers want to recharge their cellphone and watch movie trailers while they wait for their coffee, then that's what they'll get."

Shannon Illingworth, founder of AVT, believes that his vision for the company will work well with the future of the industry.

"I've always seen AVT as a company that would stand out in the industry through its innovations," Illingworth said. "We never wanted to be just another vending manufacturer. We set out to create new ways to sell products of all types through an automated, self-service platform. I am pleased that AVT has continually redefined what a 'vending machine' can do in terms of its technology, its appearance, and the type of products it can be engineered to dispense."
