Advanced Kiosks unveiled its new Web application EventsNOW, a calendar that amasses event information across university systems.
The calendar is designed to provide the public information on all department events from administration to extracurricular activities. EventsNOW can link to outgoing emails to enable students to view on-campus events. Capable of running on any Advanced Kiosk model, the application does not require management software and can be synced with other department calendars, the company said in an announcement.
Browsing options include date, department and keyword or users can page through all events, which also feature a description and contact information. Using the iCalendar protocol, EventsNOW is compatible with popular calendar systems campuses are already using, according to the announcement. By inputting a public URL from a Windows, Apple, Google, Yahoo calendar and others, EventsNOW will sync automatically with event sources.
"We designed EventsNOW at the request of several of our higher education customers," Advanced Kiosks president and owner Howard Horn said in a statement. "This software will connect everyone across campus, and it doesn't have to be viewed only on your kiosks; it's compatible with mobile devices. Smartphone-dependent students will love having instant access to every campus offering."
Lone Star College System has linked Advanced Kiosks's Freestanding Kiosks model equipped with cellphone charging trays to EventsNOW to enable students to peruse campus events while charging mobile devices, the company said.
