High school students in Tuscaloosa County have easier access to job opportunities thanks to interactive kiosks installed in every school, according to a WBRC 6 News report.
The kiosks, part of the IGNITE jobs program, provide students with a comprehensive list of local businesses hiring individuals their age. From restaurants and grocery stores to hospitality and manufacturing, the kiosks offer a variety of job options.
"It's a lot of those types of jobs, but we also have more high-paying jobs where kids can get involved in apprenticeships," Donny Jones, with West Alabama Works, told the news outlet. "And so you've got programs like at Mercedes-Benz through modern manufacturing that students can apply for."
The Tuscaloosa County Commission contributed $75,000 to fund the purchase and installation of the job kiosks.
