Is it a Super Kiosk or just an iPad? (video)

March 7, 2011

Retailers can transform a standard iPad into an in-store kiosk with Global Bay Mobile Technologies' latest module.

Global Bay, leading provider of next-generation mobile solutions, built the kiosk product to provide retailers with a "new in-store channel to deliver content to the customer in an Apple-intuitive, efficient and sophisticated way," the company said in a statement.

The product provides retailers with a quick-to-deploy solution while also being completely configurable. Retailers have the ability to design, deploy and manage the entire application through an easy to use web management tool.

Features include:

  • Rotating images
  • Videos and commercials
  • Music
  • Loyalty program and credit card enrollment
  • Loyalty rewards account look-up
  • Retailer's website access
  • Promotions and coupons
  • Usage tracking
  • And a Web-based console for configuring and managing the entire solution centrally.

According to a story on Apparel, City Sports in Washington, D.C.'s Georgetown neighborhood is using the kiosk to route customers to product-related information, such as the City Sports website, product and informational videos.

"Global Bay's Kiosk module is an extremely cost-effective option that enhances the City Sports customer experience," said Dylan Bruntil, the director of IT for City Sports. "Our customers can take advantage of this intuitive device in-store to explore product information, customer reviews and product videos very easily and in a fun interactive way."
