Essex Heritage, a nonprofit organization that helps preserve the character of Essex County, Massachusetts, recently unveiled an informational kiosk near the Firehouse Center for the Arts in Newburyport, Massachusetts, one of nine kiosks installed along the Essex Coastal Scenic Byway, according to The Daily News.
The Newburyport kiosk has four sides and features a map of downtown, information on shopping, and pictures of special attractions such as the Museum of Old Newbury and the Custom House. All nine kiosks have pictures and descriptions of the 14 communities along the byway.
The Federal Highway Administration's Scenic Byway Program provided a $390,000 grant for the project, said Annie Harris, CEO and founder of Essex Heritage. Planning, design and manufacturing for the project took two years, Harris said.
