Students at Washington State University will have access to a vending machine that offers contraceptives if a proposal submitted by a student government representative is approved.

The resolution has been sent to the rules council, according to a report in The Daily Evergreen, the student newspaper.

The machine will help those who do not have transportation to Planned Parenthood or Walmart and make it easier to get contraceptives when driving conditions worsen in the winter, said Nikolai Sublett, the student lawmaker, a junior majoring in business administration and management.

Sublett said he was motivated by a video on Instagram of people saying they did not know where to buy Plan-B.

He said he hopes the machine will help prevent sexual assault.

He also said his next resolution will educate peers and destigmatizie the conversation about sexual assault.
