Company launches Web app, rental kiosks for self-service storage

March 6, 2012

Akiba by Rental Payment Solutions has launched its web application allowing self-storage customers to reserve and lease storage units in real time on stores' websites and on iPad-based, in-store kiosks

Akiba is now integrated with SiteLink, one of the industry's management software programs, and brings facility mapping and real-time move-ins to storage websites. Storage owners may use Akiba as a branded external portal or completely integrate it into both new and existing websites.

"We crafted a solution to deliver a complete self-service experience for tenants," Bruce Shannon, president of Rental Payment Solutions, said in a company press release. "With Akiba, tenants can book a unit on the website after reviewing the location of that unit within the facility. Tenants search units by size and unit type, rent directly from an interactive facility map and receive a gate access code instantly. Tenants know where to go when they arrive because the website displays and prints a map of the facility."

Akiba, the Swahili term for storage, not only enhances services on a store's website but also offers rental payment kiosks for in-store use. The payment station runs on PCs, tablets such as iPads and touchscreen kiosks.

Akiba's rental payment station reduces the cost of in-store kiosks with Low licensing fees and easy setup offering storage owners an in-store self-service solution at a fraction of the cost of alternative technologies, Shannon said.
