Columbus gets its first free Wi-Fi, interactive kiosk

December 27, 2018

Experience Columbus, in partnership with the city and other organizations, has announced the city's first interactive kiosk available to the public, offering free Wi-Fi, according to the Columbus Dispatch. The 8-foot tall kiosk, called IKE, is located outside the UPS store on North High Street and provides information about attractions, transportation and local events. Partnership organizations also include Smart Columbus, Orange Barrel Media and special improvement districts.

Orange Barrell Media installed the kiosk at no cost to the city, as paid advertising will cover the costs. The screens are ADA-compliant, available in multiple languages and can send directions to a smartphone.

More than 40 kiosks will be deployed in high-traffic areas in the city center between the Brewery District and the University District in 2019.
