CardVault by Tom Brady has assembled its first strategic investor group as the sports collectibles retailer prepares for further expansion, according to a press release. The group includes prominent figures from sports, business and entertainment, including JAY-Z, New York Yankees captain Aaron Judge, Edmonton Oilers captain Connor McDavid, UFC President and CEO Dana White, Raising Cane's founder Todd Graves and executives associated with RedBird Capital, Silver Lake, Fenway Sports Group and The Kraft Group.

Financial details weren't disclosed.

The investment will support new stores, additional distribution channels, hiring and improvements to CardVault's technology, supply chain and operations. Tom Brady acquired a 50% stake in the company in February 2025, joining co-founders Ed Kane, Randy Greenstein, Chris Costa, Tim Bonito and Scott Heigelmann. Since then, CardVault says it has grown from three stores to 17 locations nationwide. The company ultimately plans to operate more than 100 stores while expanding through automated retail, e-commerce, partnerships and other distribution channels.

CardVault specializes in sports and trading cards and authenticated memorabilia, while offering customers opportunities to buy, sell, trade and submit collectibles for grading. It also operates CardVault Breaks, a livestreaming business that lets customers participate in real-time card openings. Co-founder Chris Costa said the new investment will help the company enter additional markets while continuing to develop its combination of physical retail, collecting expertise and fan experiences.
