The California Department of Public Health has approved a variance to allow Generation Next Franchise Brands' Reis & Irvy's unattended ice cream and frozen yogurt kiosks to operate in the state, according to a press release.
Under the variance, the company is required to use the Hydra Rinse Mobile System for cleaning and sanitizing, replacing the state's 24-hour cleaning schedule requirement with a schedule that allows operators to service kiosks once every 72 hours.
The amount of time needed to fully service the units will be cut in half, according to the release.
Other operational specifications include adherence to standard operating procedures and corrective action plans, partnership with an accredited food testing laboratory for quarterly bacteriological testing, and the implementation of a quality assurance plan.
