The Bureau of Land Management's Cottonwood Field Office has installed five digital kiosks at recreation sites across north-central Idaho to improve visitor access to information in areas with limited connectivity, according to a press release. The kiosks are now operating at the Cottonwood Field Office, Cooper's Ferry Interpretive Site, Hammer Creek Boat Ramp, Craig Mountain/Eagle Creek Road Junction and Pink House Boat Ramp.
Although the solar-powered kiosks don't provide internet connectivity, they create a local Wi-Fi hotspot that allows visitors to download maps, brochures, podcasts and other educational materials directly to their mobile devices. Content available through the kiosks includes resources from the BLM, Idaho Fish and Game and other partner organizations, providing visitors with site-specific information while exploring remote recreation areas.
