Light the World Giving Machines returning to eastern Idaho

The Light the World Giving Machine initiative will return to eastern Idaho in November, according to an Idaho State Journal report, bringing donation kiosks to Pocatello, Rexburg and Idaho Falls. Each kiosk displays donation options on cards with set prices, resembling the selections in a vending machine. Items ranging from $10 to $130 include livestock, seeds, school supplies, clothing, meals, medical care and menstrual hygiene kits. Donors may also complete the "777 Challenge" by purchasing every item offered in a machine in one transaction.

The Pocatello kiosks will debut Nov. 13 during a tree-lighting ceremony at Idaho Central Credit Union headquarters and operate daily from Nov. 14-29. Participating organizations include Mentors International, Days for Girls, Family Services Alliance, the Pocatello Free Clinic, the School District 25 Education Foundation, the Idaho Foodbank and United Way of Southeastern Idaho. The church covers the initiative's operating expenses, allowing participating charities to receive the full value of each donation.
