According to the Ashtabula (Ohio) Star Beacon, information kiosks should be in place in popular Ashtabula County tourism destinations by mid-summer.
Scott Becker, president of the Civic Development Corp. (CDC), and Ken Johnson, general manager of Conneaut Telephone Co., recently demonstrated a prototype of the kiosks and their content, developed by Conneaut Telephone for CDC. The kiosk is intended to provide an electronic gateway for information about the county.
The kiosk project is part of a five-year $700,000 CDC commitment to enhance economic development in the county through tourism, Becker told the paper. Mark Winchell, Visitors Bureau executive director, told the paper that the kiosks eventually will result in additional tourism dollars being spent in Ashtabula County.
