AiFi has launched eddie, an API that applies artificial intelligence to real-time spatial data, enabling physical spaces such as stores and stadiums to function more like automated, self-service environments, according to a press release.
The system interprets shopper and product interactions to drive workflows that include frictionless checkout, automated loss prevention, out-of-stock alerts and labor optimization. By providing itemized receipts as customers move through a store, eddie reduces the need for staffed checkout and allows unattended environments to operate more efficiently.
"With eddie, we are making the physical world accessible to AI agents in real time," João Diogo Falcão, CEO of AiFi, said in the release. "It turns your physical space into data and allows you to query it. Eddie doesn't simply describe what happened; it acts in the moment and helps businesses prevent loss and optimize operations."
Already deployed in U.S. grocery chains, the technology is designed to support use cases across retail, logistics, airports and quick-service restaurants. AiFi said the approach helps operators cut inventory loss, scale best practices and improve customer experiences across multiple locations simultaneously.
